Mongolia’s Khuvsgul Lake considers as Mongolia’s Switzerland. Khuvsgul is one of seventeen ancient lakes worldwide more than 2 million years old, and the most pristine (apart from Lake Vostok) as well as being the most significant drinking water reserve of Mongolia. Lake Khuvsgul /136 km long, 36 km wide, 267 m deep, 1645 me above sea level/ is considered the second oldest pristine water lake, having been formed 7-8 million years ago. It belongs to the same geological system as Baikal, only 250 kms away and the lake is called the sister of Lake of Baikal. There are 4 marvelous islands, which is a home of thousands birds and called the earth navel. The lake houses 9 species of fish such as ormolu, Siberian white fish and grayling.
The national park comprises emerald green lake Khuvsgul, curative springs, rugged mountain ranges, snowcapped peaks, millions of evergreen trees. This is very rich flora and fauna such as deer, sable, bears, beck and delicious berries, mushrooms.
Upon your arrival time to UB city. Our guide will warmly welcome you, and drive to Gorkhi Terelj National park located in the Khentii Mountain range. Ulaanbaatar city- Murun city
After breakfast early in morning , start your journey to Murun city. /Domestic flight/. The flight takes for 1 hour half past to Murun. Lunch at Murun city. After lunch, we will drive to Huvsgul lake site. This gorgeous lake is fed by 96 rivers and steams but only Egiin river flows out from the lake. Khuvsgul lake is inhabited by 9 species of fish, while the nearby taiga forest, forest steppe, mountains and the lake provide habitat for 68 species of mammals. The lake is surrounded by dozens of stunning mountains, thick pine forests and lush meadows with grazing yaks and horses. Overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
In earlier to enjoy morning glory looking at sunrise at Khuvsgul lake side you will witness the most breathtaking scenes of Blue Pearl of Mongolia. The reflections of the surrounding larch forest and majestic KhoridolSaridag mountain range on the blue lake water are extremely amazing. We will Hike in the surrounding forest mountains to have a better look of the crystal blue lake. There are horse riding and fishing opportunities around the lake. After breakfast we will drive to th Tsagaan nuur soum, located in thr north of Khuvsgul provinve and it is a small town where majority of residents are of ethnic reindeers` herders called Tsaatan. After lunch the ride is in direction of taiga, up intil the point where vehicle can take you (-2hours). Furthermore, the travel continues on horseback through the woods. About two hour later, we arrive in the tsaatan family home, with large herd of reindeers, and tent housing. There, graat the host and meet the family, and learn about their distict culture and lifestyle throhghout the day. Overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
After breakfast we will drive back to Murun to catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar. Around afternoon arrive in UB, after lunch guide will drop you off your preferred stay in UB city. (B+L)
